Autumn in Poland is the time when you want to slow down, swap the city routine for new landscapes, and recharge without long flights or tiring travel. That is why we have prepared three ready-made routes for short trips: from walks through old manors and vineyards to the thrill of an amusement park and romantic weekends in the spirit of the French countryside. Perfect for couples looking for romance, families with children, and those who want cultural and gastronomic adventures.

1670 Western French weekend

Weekend in the style of “1670” in Podkarpacie

The best destination for autumn is the mountains, and we recommend the Podkarpacie region. Why here? The answer is simple. In September, Netflix releases the second season of the popular historical comedy series “1670”, filmed in this very region. Old manors, wooden villages, and impressive castles became its backdrop, and now they can become part of your weekend.

Start your journey at the open-air museum in Kolbuszowa, where the fictional village Adamczycha comes to life. Here you will find more than 80 wooden buildings: peasant cottages, manor houses, and churches. For the filming, extra houses were built, along with the yard of the main characters and a tavern where they often gathered. Today, it is one of the most colorful places where history turns into reality.

Then head to Rzeszów — the main city of the region. Its central square with the neo-Gothic Town Hall and elegant townhouses looks like a movie set for a historical film. Under the square lies the Underground Tourist Route, over 350 meters long, leading you through old warehouses and merchant cellars. In the Ethnographic Museum, you can see costumes, crafts, and everyday objects of the region’s inhabitants to feel the spirit of the era even deeper. For lunch, choose the restaurant of traditional Podkarpacie cuisine Folk: dishes of game, homemade cheese, and pierogi are prepared here as if for an old Polish feast.

To feel like a true hero of the series, stay overnight in a manor on the hills. The renovated residence Wianki i Kalosze with white facades, a wooden barn converted into a banquet hall, and a fireplace where you can easily imagine scenes from “1670”.

The next day, head to the castle in Łańcut — one of the most impressive palace-castle complexes in Poland. Built in the 17th century as a “palazzo in fortezza”, it combines a defensive character with the luxury of a residence. Here you will find ceremonial halls with stucco and paintings, a carriage collection, and also a sculpture gallery inspired by the travels of Princess Izabela Lubomirska. Walking through these halls, it is easy to see the parallels with “1670” — grandeur and splendor mixed with stories of land disputes and human weaknesses.

The finale of the trip is a visit to the Notabene winery near Rzeszów. Among the Podkarpacie hills, you will enjoy award-winning wines and discover the rebirth of local winemaking traditions. It is a modern touch to the journey through old Polish Podkarpacie, like an epilogue to the era shown with humor in the series and revealed with real beauty in the region.

The first stop on the route is the Energylandia park in Zator. In October, it transforms into an incredible way: hundreds of pumpkins, themed decorations, theater performances, and temporary attractions turn it into a world of Halloween. You can spend the whole day here riding rollercoasters, exploring “fear zones”, and enjoying art installations. Autumn also brings extra benefits: shorter queues and more fresh air to feel the spirit of adventure.

After an active day, head to the cowboy village. You can stay overnight in sheriff’s cabins, colorful Indian tipis, or even in a cowboy wagon with a soft bed and heating. For users of the VacationPoland app, there is our personal discount on accommodation. In the evening, you can warm up by the totem fire with a drink, try Polish and American dishes, or relax in the sauna and swimming pool.

To truly feel like a cowboy, add a horseback ride through the surrounding forests. In Zator, there are dozens of stables, and we recommend Stajnia Juventus. They offer routes for both beginners and experienced riders, so everyone will find a format to enjoy.

End the weekend with a visit to the Tenczynek brewery. They produce light and dark beers, both classic and craft, and you can taste them in the bar whose design was awarded at the Dezeen Awards. The atmosphere of stone walls, barrels, and hop aromas creates the perfect ending to a cowboy weekend.

Begin your journey with a boutique hotel styled as a French farm. Your morning begins with fresh pastry, homemade products, and a glass of sparkling wine, and continues with cooking classes. Then visit the nearby Smolis winery. Its owner, Jean Thierry Smolis, was born and raised in Champagne, worked in the famous Laurent-Perrier house, and now creates sparkling wines Brut Nature and Rosé in Poland. His drinks, with bright citrus and mineral notes, surprise even experienced sommeliers.

The final stop is the palace connected with the story of Maria Walewska and her relationship with Napoleon. The elegant neoclassical palace keeps the memory of those times: halls decorated with stucco, stables with Anglo-Arab horses, gardens for slow walks. On Sundays, there are concerts of classical music, horse-riding workshops, and romantic lunches in the garden.
