What to see?

Start your day with a visit to Manufaktura, a historical complex that once housed a textile factory owned by one of Łódź's most influential figures, Izrael Poznański. Today, it is a cultural and shopping center that combines history and modernity. You’ll find shops, cafes, museums, and even an amusement park. Over its long history, it has attracted filmmakers, including David Lynch, who filmed scenes for his last feature film Inland Empire here.

Next, head to Poznański Palace. This 19th-century architectural masterpiece became a symbol of Łódź’s industrial prosperity. It’s no surprise that over time, its massive facade, wrought-iron balconies, rich stucco, and frescoes began attracting filmmakers’ cameras. The first to utilize the palace's potential was Andrzej Wajda, one of Poland's greatest directors and an honorary Oscar winner. Three decades later, it caught the attention of Hollywood director David Lynch, who filmed about six scenes for Inland Empire here. Today, the building houses the City Museum, where you can learn more about Łódź and its development.

Then head to Freedom Square, the geometric heart of Łódź. Built in the 19th century, it became a symbol of the industrial revolution and the city’s growth. Here, you'll find architectural monuments such as the Town Hall, a church, and the Tadeusz Kościuszko monument. This area also hosts various cultural events and festivals.

Of course, you can't miss Piotrkowska Street — one of Europe's longest shopping streets, serving as the city's historical and cultural center. Walking down Piotrkowska offers a chance to immerse yourself in the bourgeois atmosphere of Łódź, visit many shops, cafes, and restaurants, and stroll past the Polish Cinema Star Alley, which honors famous Polish filmmakers. We also recommend checking out the aesthetic Galeria Piotra Uznańskiego, a private gallery showcasing works by Polish artists from past centuries.

If you have time, visit Zielona Górka, a pizzeria located in Pabianice, just outside of Łódź. At the end of 2024, it was named the best Neapolitan pizzeria in the world by the Association of Neapolitan Pizza (AVPN). The owners underwent special training in Naples and use a traditional wood-fired oven, San Marzano tomatoes, and mozzarella di bufala campana. The dough ferments for 24-48 hours, strictly following Neapolitan traditions.
